I played the Villa-Lobos a number of years ago and wrote out the part
for A clarinet. Unfortunately, I don't seem to still have the part.
He probably meant it to be played by someone with a low E-flat on
their B-flat clarinet. You'll often run across this in Italian opera
music too.
