A question was asked concerning the 3rd movement of Brahms 4th, written in C.
We are performing it on Oct 7 here in Jackson, Mi and will play that movement
on the Bb. I'm not sure how difficult the horn changes will be-- we have yet
to play it straight through.

For those of you who, like me, who do not transpose well in the heat of
battle- you may be interested to know that many frequently performed pieces
have been transposed to "modern day" key and can be purchased from Luck's
Music Library (810) 583-1820
Madison Heights, MI. I purchased the transposed clarinet part - and use it
for the 3rd movement- very modest cost $6. Whenever I encounter a
significant part in C, I call Luck's to determine if it has been transcribed
for the B.

This summer I was reading a Schubert Octet (op 71) at a chamber music
conference
and a C movement reared it's ugly head I handed it to the horn player and he
played it flawlessly.
