Regarding the thicker blanks of the reeds-

I don't know if this is true or not- but I recall a lesson in college where
my clarinet wanted me to change from Vandoren's to V-12s and I asked what the
difference was between the two.

I was told that the V-12s were made from alto saxaphone blanks and that is
why they were thicker. He also told me that they would play better for me
with my setup.

Is it true or just another rumor? Who knows.....
