To the clarinetists interested in reed adjustment:

I truly believe that a reed needs to be cured before it will be in top
playing condition. I go through a 5 day process of playing each reed for 5
minutes (no longer) and sanding the bottom of each reed. I also seal the
top of the reed with either side of the sand paper. Reeds warp terribly
when they are new, and it takes about that long for them to adjust. Near
the end of this5 day period, I do several short playing tests and adjust
the reed. This seems to work and I have beter luck with the playing
consistancy of each reed.

Currently I play on a combination of self-made reeds, (about 60%) and
commercial reeds. My self-made reeds are done on a reedual and take about
5-10 mintues a reed. (From the completed blank stage).

Hope this helps.
