Neil,
SHAME ON YOU!!! Shepherd on the Rock is a very, very common piece
and there are at least three editions on the market right now for around
$10. If you special-order, it'll be in your hands in a day from any
decent dealer, including Eble, Woodwind Services, etc. Why break
copyright and xerox such accessible music? Sorry to come on a bit strong,
but we musicians really ought to start owning up to our responsibility to
support music companies when they actually put out decent, inexpensive
editions. I could understand if the work were out of print but this is
not the case here. It's the same with recordings. Way to much taping is
going on and not enough purchasing. It's no excuse to plead poverty.
Composers, who need those publishing companies to publish and distribute
their music, can't. And anyway, isn't it about time you start building up
your own library? Any serious clarinetist really ought to own a copy of
"Shepherd". I'll get down off the soap box now.
