My guess is that if a Clarinet is going to crack, it will happen in the 1st
year of playing, when the wood is still breaking in, and is the most unstable
Although according to Murphys Law, it would crack 1 Year and a day after it's
purchase.
I think that is what John Baetens meant when he wrote about
Clarinets cracking 50% of the time.

I guess Buffet would like us to believe the "good", and forget about the
bad!
