Nate,

I personally like treated pads, they have a yellowish color. It is my
preference because I feel they last a long time. I bought a R-13 about 6
years ago and the pads on it need replacing now. I have put one on here and
there and now I am ready to have it repadded. Why pay to have it repadded
before it needs it? If you like synthetic pads it won't make it play any
better, wait untill it needs it.

BTW, the R13 I bought I really love. But the reason I like it better then
the Lebancs or other horns is: 1. I went to a store that caters to serious
players. 2. I tried every horn in the store. It took me 2 weekends. 3.
I had a great repairman work on the one I selected.

It is a shock to see how the Buffets are shipped from the factory. Or should
I say a disappointment. The lack of proper adjustment is the reason I would
never buy a horn from a wholesale company. For 5-10% more you can have the
horn adjusted the way you like it.
