David Maslanka has actually written two wind quintets.

The use of the mouthpiece and barrel only is also used in his Symphony
No. 4 for Wind Ensemble. In a central section, (I think it's subtitled
"The Babies"), the principal first, second and third clarinets have a
little trio using this technique. The melody evolves from this into a
Bach chorale, which I believe is known as the "Old Hundred". It's weird
but interesting.
