Mr Baetens replied to my comment about Buffets cracking, and supposed that
defective wood attributed to the problem. As mentioned earlier, I saw on a
recent PBS show that Buffet and other instrument makers do not know what is
causing the "defects" in the wood. Some think it is because of the frequent
fires used by farmers to clear land in Tanzania (the only place in the world
where Mpingo wood now exists.)
