Scott (and Klarinetters)

Tonight I saw an amazing set (Bb/A) of old Buffet's, and I'm wondering if
you or anyone on the list can shed some light.

The Bb clarinet is serial # 8180. On the bell is stamped "W.H.Cundy,
Boston". on the upper joint, just below the Buffet trademark, is the word
"Brevetes", and under that the initials "U.G.D.O." this last is worn, and
almost unreadable, so I wouldnt vouch for the accuracy of all the
letters. It has a barrel with a metal sleeve, so that by turning the
outside ring, the barrel can be lengthened or shortened for tuning.

The A clarinet has the serial # 739Z (or 7397) It's worn, and hard to
read accurately.

Both clarinets have LP stamped on the upper and lower joints, as well as
the bell. Both clarinets have the register key wrapped around to the top
of the instrument, as the old Albert system instruments did.

The most unusual feature of these instruments is the LH rings. There are
three, and the 2nd ring looks a bit like an open-hole flute key - a wider
ring, with a smaller than normal hole in the center, and a mechanism that
allows for a 1st finger/3rd finger Eb.

Does anyone have any idea when these were made?

The owner wishes to sell them, and I could put any interested party in
touch with the owner.

Thanks in advance for your help.
