Nate,

There is nothing wrong with using a "chemically treated polishing
cloth." I write it that way because some cloths are treated with rouge
which is an abrasive polishing compound. These cloths are red...DON'T
USE THEM! Not only will the rouge wear the plating, it will get into
the pivot points and hinge tubes and wear your keys out. In short,
chemicals are OK, rouge is not.

The second part of your message: A silk pull-thru (swab) is more
absorbent than a cotton one. Some say the silk will wear the bore
faster; The wood is hard enough that I find that unlikely.
