Hi Nate;

Ask your new teacher what he thinks you should play. I say this because
he can chose a work in that clarinet rep that will address some problems that
you are have problems with on the clarinet and at the same time broaden your
understanding of the clarinet rep. Having said that here are some things are
good listening....

The Brahms Sonatas op 120 1 and 2 in f min and Eb maj. There are many
fine recordings of this my favorite is the one by Leister. There is a Stolzman
as well. The Hindemith Sonata, IMO very fine 20th century counterpoint. I
even have come to find the melodies in the sonata lovely. The Poulenc Sonata is
a lot of fun and for the most part the crowd will like it. Poulenc was a member
of the french six. The Finzi Concerto and Five Baggettels are recorded on the
RCA red seal label by Stolzman... Nate this is just a very very very short list.
Ask you teacher about a rep book... like the Opperman. I am sure that the
other list users can tell of a book that will give you a complete list of music
for the clarinet. Once you get the list get out there and listen and have fun.
