I realize that we have modern copies of the original instraments.
I was just making the point many of us don't have thoes instraments and
we can only guess to the actual tone production of a clarinet made in the
early 19th century. Sorry, Roger, I really should have made my point
clearer.
This does raise an interesting question. What is the oldest
playable clarinet has anyone seen? I don't want to start the "blown out"
discussion again, but violins have original Stratavarious(sp??) to know
what violins sounded like in that era, do we have a clarinet equivalent
that isn't as well known. I'm looking forward to some clarinet history
responces to this.
