Every now and then a musician comes along like Holliger. And it does not
really matter what you play, when you hear him play, you say, "Oh, I would
love to be able to create like that!!".

Connie was speaking of Holliger playing the Rossini clarinet variations
on an oboe and he got exactly the reaction that I did when I heard him
play (anything). If only I could have played like that!!

Others that do that do me are Perlman on fiddle, Yo-Yo Ma on cello,
a player from China who did his thing on a fiddle like instrument (though
held like a cello) with one string, and his musicianship made me gasp
with pleasure, a young boy who played accordion (may G-d forgive me
for thinking such a thought) but he was so very, very musical and
sensitive on an instrument for which I think any performers should be
jailed for committing unnatural acts, and Solomon on piano.
