Bob,
I share your high regard for the Rossini "Variations..." I
performed the work with an orchestra on Bb clarinet several years ago
before I owned a C clarinet.
I have the Holliger recording, and I have also heard a commercial
recording with a well-known clarinetist, whose name eludes me at the
moment. Although I feel disloyal by admitting it, I thought the Holliger
recording more interesting musically.
