Dear Roger Shilcock:

There is a nice solo piece for C clarinet written by Rossini entitled
"Variations for Clarinet and Chamber Orchestra." One of my former
students, Tod Kerstetter--now at W. Kentucky U.--played it with the
Carolina Youth Symphony. The work is recorded by the Swiss oboist,
Heinz Holliger (of course playing the solo clarinet part on the oboe).
I am uncertain if it has been recorded by a clarinetist. Both versions
work very well! There are other pieces, viz., Schubert's "Totus in
corde lanqueo" D. 136 (the original part is Klarinette in C), and
several more. I hope this helps.
