Carolyn,
This is from "The Clarinet" Volume 6 No.2 Spring
1979 there is a long article(interview) by Lee Gibson and James Gillespie. et
that article.
Leister was born in 1937 in Wilhelmshaven and first studied
with his father.
(The rest is history). I also do remember seeing Leister's
name in the Weston series.

Carolyn,
If I remember correctly, Pamela Weston has
published a third
volume in her "Clarinet Virtuosi" series listing notable
players of our
time. I'm sure it lists Leister. Can anyone out there confirm
this? (I
don't have a copy of it handy). I also recommend that you check the

Clarinet magazine back issues for articles. Also, do an archives check of

this BBS. How good is your German? If you feel up to it, contact the
Berlin
Symphony and see if they'll send you some information. I'll bet
they've got
a nice-sized packet on each principal player. I guess you
could also do a
search of the back issues of some of the German music
magazines and see what
turns up, but that would be terribly
time-consuming. Lastly, have you
thought about contacting Leister himself?
