Dr. Lacy: I don't really know about U.S.pitch standards, but there was no
20th-century European pitch standard even a quarter-tone lower than a'@-----. A
possible oversight: if the throat B flat was *sharp* on a "flat " C instrument,
then surely it would be *nearer* to B flat than it would have been.
