I analyzed the Brian Israel Concerto as part of my doctoral treatise and
it is a powerful work. The band must be top notch and the performer must
have technique to spare. The whole work is centered on three aspects of
the 1940's Holocaust. I felt that it was an important addition to the
repertore for musical and emotional reasons. The audience will be
(should be) moved deeply hearing a good performance of the concerto, yet
will not likely hum it walking out the door.

As of 1989 the work was available at:Music of Brian Israel. 126 Wilson
St. Sytacuse, NY 13210. A recording is available through Cornell
University WInd Ensemble, Record #37. The late Robert Schmidt was soloist.

Good Luck!
