I am surprised that in the recent discussion of music software and score
sharing over the internet, no mention has been made of the NIGFHTINGALE
software from TAP (now merged with MUSICWARE).

As a music publisher I use this program extensively for inputting music
scores, and its add-on NOTESCAN will scan and input printed music. Those
interested may wish to contact Musicware for info. I quote from their
latest brochure:

"Musicware has announced the release of NoteView, the free companion
program to NIGHTINGALE. NoteView allows anyone using a Mac to view and hear
any musical score created using Nightingale@-----. Musicians who own
Nightingale may publish scores on the Internet, or share their work on
floppy disk with free copies of NoteView so anyone can audition the scores.
(Recipients can read and listen to scores but the scores cannot be altered
or printed.)
NoteView is compatible with www browser applications, so it can be used
on-line to view a score without downloading it to the user's terminal.
Agents and publishers can browse and audition scores any time of day or
night."

Musicware's URL is http://www.halcyon.com/musicware/

The NoteScan program will scan printed music scores directly into the
Nightingale application.
