Sean made some statements that brought some questions to mind which I hope
haven't been discussed at length yet. He mentioned some bass players being
able to play bass that sounded like a soprano; what do you bass players try
to sound like? Would you like to sound more like a soprano? I personally
never tried, but occasionally thought that I did sound a bit like one. My
other thought is more about transposition. I believe that most of us do not
own C clarinets, and when Beethoven and other pieces come along which are
written in C, they must be transposed. I thought when I did this, that my
pitch center was thrown off. EMM
