Neil, regarding choosing a solo for this year's NYSSMA festivals, my first
suggestion would of course be to trust the knowledge and experience of your
teacher and play the repertoire s/he suggests. If you want to suggest
alternatives to your teacher, I might suggest:

If you enjoyed the Marty, you might try -
Cahuzac - Variations sun un Air . . .
Lefebvre - Fantasie Caprice
Messager - Solo de Concours

Or maybe a big early romantic concerto -
Pleyel - Concerto
Spohr - Concerto No. 1
Weber - Concerto in E-flat Major

Level Six of the NYSSMA list has many other choices. Use your teacher as a
resource, trust his/her judgement, and have fun. Good luck!
