Right on. Because the problem is caused by reed resonances interfering
with air column resonances, it only makes sense that the problem will be
less noticeable on some reeds than others. The cut, length and thickness
will all have an effect on the resonances. Therefore, for example, playing
at a certain position on one reed will be equivalent to playing at a
slightly lower or higher position on another reed.
