MUSICAL RESOURCES ON THE INTERNET

This file contains the following sections:
- Mailing lists
- Usenet newsgroups
- other (gopher, ftp, WWW, BBSs, etc.)
Mailing Lists

The following is a list of known Internet mailing lists for various
musical instruments, bands, orchestras, etc. Woodwind and string
instruments tend to be under-represented. I have heard rumours
of a percussion list, but have not yet found one. Please forward
any additions or corrections to Colin R. Leech
<ag414@-----.

Some lists have an automated subscription procedure (i.e.
listserv, listproc, majordomo, or mailbase). For these lists, the
"subscribe" message (or other command) is generally placed in
the body of an e-mail message which is then sent to the
listserv/listproc/majordomo, unless otherwise noted. The
"Subject:" line is generally ignored. For more information, send
the command "help" to the same address. Do not put quotes into
your "subscribe" message.

The format of a message is not important for lists which are run
manually. Please be polite in the messages as they are handled
by a real person (the list owner).

Refer also to the trombone-l FTP site listed later.

descriptions of the list" for Orchestralist due to its professional
nature.
List topic(s):

Announcing ORCHESTRALIST,
a mailing list for orchestral conductors andthose in the orchestra
business.

ORCHESTRALIST serves as a forum to discuss such matters as
orchestral repertoire, performance questions, conducting
technique, auditions, job opportunities (both professional and
academic), marketing, publicity, organization, and other subjects.
NOTE: this list is not a forum for discussion of recordings,
anecdotes about conductors, and other "popular," though
tangential, subjects (there are other forums devoted to these
topics). It is specifically designed for the orchestra professional.

This is a shortened version of a file I have. If anyone wants the full
100 yards, write me at Talb4841@-----.edu
