Okay, okay. I forgot who was asking about solos for clarinet with band,
but I have a recommendation.
"Prelude and Dance" by James Richens is a very challenging, yet
rewarding solo. I am currently working on it for our concert in November, and
I still highly recommend it as one of the most 'clarinetty' (forgive the term-
it's the best I can think of) pieces I've heard/played. It has an absolutely
gorgeous moderato opening section, and the two allegro sections are both
challenging and fun to play (if the trumpets don't rush! :) ) I can honestly
highly recommend this particular piece for clarinet solo and band.
