"Carpe diem!" by Kaipainen was recorded by Kari Kriiku on Ondine CD 778-2.
It is a virtuoso piece, written in a contemporary idiom (multiphonics,
microtones, etc.). One critic described Kriiku's performance as
"superhuman". An interesting quote from the liner notes: "in order to hancle
both
the speed and agility of the solo part and the stagnant calm of the
micro-interval chorale, the soloist needs not only a sound helping of Till
Eulenspiegel but also a pinch of the cantor of St. Thomas's."
