I sent this reply directly to Jim but I then thought it would be helpful
to others on the group. I use this software and input duets and
woodwind quintet parts and then play the clarinet part along with
my stereo. I use a Roland SC7 module to obtain more realistic
instrument sounds than my computers sound card will generate. I am
now inputting the rythmn duet exercises from Rythmn- It's Easy from
Gerry Long (gerhyez@-----. Sorry Gerry but the midi files supplied
for the IBM were missing data so I am redoing them and adding drum
tracks.

I am using a program called Musictime. They also have a more advanced
program that you can upgrade to. It will allow 8 staves with I believe
4 voices per stave. It willverts to notation
with reasonable accuracy. It is a windows program and is also available
for MAC. There is a newer version for $20 more which will do 16 staves
which I reccomend if you intend to import midi files. The advanced program
that you can upgrade to is Encore and it is MUCH cheaper to obtain Encore
by upgrading if the offer is still available. The programs are from
Passport Designs (415) 726-0280 and their support staff has been great.
I have also tried software from Dr. T's but they are not good for
notation and the printouts are poor quality.
