A while ago, there was a string on cork grease. It was amazing that there
was so much that could be written on the subject.

In one of the messages, the writer mentioned that mink oil and what is
sold as cork grease in music stores is basically the same stuff.

I was picking up a pair of shoes at the repair shop a week ago, and I
eyed a can of mink oil on the counter. I recalled the reference to the
product and decided to buy a can. The label was "Cavalier" mink oil. The
manufacturer is Kiwi Brands.

I tried it on my horn and discovered that it is far superior to any
lubricant I've tried. You have to use only a small amount, so it's easy
to clean up and doesn't squish out when you assemble your horn on hot
days. And it is slipperier than any other lubricant.

I took an empty Chapstick-type container that cork grease is packaged in
and filled it with the mink oil, so I don't have to carry the can around.

The can cost $3.00 and it should last a few years.

I realize that this isn't an important topic. But anything that makes
life a little better is worth sharing.
