Keith,

"Spamming" is the practice of sending advertisements, or "junk mail," to a
listserv, newsgroup, etc. which are totally unrelated to the topic of
interest of that group. Some members of the list find it find it terribly
aggravating. I can understand this, because some of us have situations
where we pay extra for additional download time (phone connection, ...), or
have limited disk space. Some guy in Albuquerque, New Mexico keeps sending
us these long messages where he advertises all kinds of things, from atomic
bomb blueprints to instructions on how to spam a listserv: all for a fee, of
course.

Allow me to add my own name to the growing roster of techies who play
clarinet. I'm a programmer/analyst in southern California. Let me add once
again that this list is a great relief from the O.J. Simpson/Mark Fuhrman
nonsense that monopolizes the airwaves these days.
