I play both flute and clarinet and can only recall hearing *very* prominent
paritals in duet playing when the flute was involved. I've occasionally
heard partials with two clarinets and have heard significant partials with
flute and clarinet duets, but the loudest, most obvious partials have been
with two flutes. I don't understand this, but assume it has to do with the
more complex overtones and absence of even partials with the clarinet and the
predominantly fundamental content of the flute.

Any explanations would be appreciated.
