I have to answer this. I happen to have a U.S. military band background and
presently earn my living as a computer techie.

The military background includes 3 years with First U.S. Army Band in the
early 1980's and an ongoing stint with a National Guard band in Connecticut.
All as clarinet/sax doubler. These days I also do as much freelancing as
time allows, but of course, that hardly covers the gas let alone the
mortgage!

The computer background includes 11 years as a software support guy with one
of the insurance companies this area is so famous for. That pretty much
covers the mortgage.
It's amazing how many musicians I run across at work. Interesting to find
someone with a parallel background in the U.K.
