Michael "Peanuts" Hucko is alive and well, living in the Los Angeles area. He
has organized a Benny Goodman All Star band with former Goodman members that
performs locally and travels abroad.
Glenn Miller also had a guy named Willie Schwartz, who started the Glenn
Miller sound when a trumpet player on the band hit his lip. Benny thought
that maybe a clarinet could play the melody with the a tenor sax doubling an
octave lower. They harmonized it for the 1 clarinet, 2 alto saxes and 2 tenor
saxes and the rest is history.( you probably already knew that story).
