You'll be surprised of the kind of stuff even professional musicians will
ask you sometimes. A ligature is what holds or clamps a single reed of a
clarinet or a saxophone on the in place on the mouthpiece. It is called
ligature because it binds or ties something-the reed in place. The
ligature comes in different shapes and is made off of different materials
like metal, string, plastic, or rubber.
