Would appreciate advice on Klarinet reeds. In particular:

Opinions on the hypothesis: "Reed selection, preparation and maintenance
is
not a science, but a matter of individual choice and experience."
Can you fix an unsatisfactory reed?
What difference is there between:
Manufacturers;
Grades;
Lengths?
What makes one reed perform better than another?
Can we manufacture reeds in the home workshop? What is involved?

Any comments on any aspect of the question would be appreciated..
