Hi folks,
My name's Paolo and I'm an italian student of clarinet.
I'm attending the consevatory of my native city (Piacenza) and in July
I had an important exam of clarinet, but listen what happend to
me.....
Well, the day before the exam I brought my clarinet to replace a pad.
The man replaced it, I tried the clarinet and it was playable.
The next day, just before the exam, I warm up my instrument, then I
went up on the stage and I started 'Introduction theme and
variationen' by Weber. You have to trust me, my instrument doesn't
play anymore. I had the E/B and the F/C keys that doesn't play at all
(no note) and the other notes were hard to play.
I tought it was a emotional joke so very sadly I finished the piece.
The judges were totally upset, they had never heard before nothing so
orrible.
Could you imagine a piece in C played without the B and the C. :-)
I was abandonig the stage very frightened without doing the remaining
pieces.
Then a judge went up on the stage and tried to play my clarinet and
had the same problems, so they asked to me to continue the exam with
another clarinet.
So my teacher run home and lend me his clarinet. I finished the exam
with difficulty, because the clarinet I played wasn't mine and I
wasn't used to it, but I passed all the proofs with an average of 7.5
points upon 10.
But they considered my first proof (the wrong one) valid. The vote was
4.
So I have to play again that piece in September, and the average of
7.5 and the vote of this performance must be equal to 8. If it won't
be equal to 8 I have to attend the fifth year course another time. Sob
:-(

Bye, Paolo
