Dear Mr Cohler,
I have enjoyed your CDs. I like especially your Hindemith and Francaix
recordings. I have an LP of Sigurd Rascher playing the sax concerto
(composed for Rascher) by Mr von Koch (EMI CSDS 1092) which Harry Gee
soldme when he was retiring, along with numerous other sax recordings. The
liner notes state that he was born in Stockholm April 26 1910 and studied at
the Stockholm music conservatory in 1931-35, and then in Germany and France
with Paul Hoffler (composition) Claudio Arrau (piano), Walter Gmeindl and
Clemens Krauss (conducting). He was appointed lecturer in Harmony at the
Royal Academy of Music and became professor there in 1968. He composed
various works including concerti, string quartets, orchestral works, opera
and TV and film music. Jean-Marie Londeix (125 Years if Saxophone Music)adds
that he studied music with his father. I hope this information is of some
help to you! Perhaps if you contacted Mr Rascher in upstate New York he
could tell you more!

Sincerely,

Everett J Austin, MD
San Francisco

PS- do you know what kind of instrument and mouthpiece Hans Rudolf Stalder
and Louis Cahuzac use(d)? They are my favorite clarinetists.
