If you stay on this list long enough, you'll find that equipment
is one of the most popular subjects.

Based upon reading all the archives and keeping up on current messages, I
can make a couple of conclusions that could help newcomers.

The most popular clarinet among list members is the Buffet R13, which is
also the best selling clarinet in the U.S.

The most popular mouthpiece is the Vandoren B45, which is also the best
selling mouthpiece in the U.S., and maybe the world. (Not sure about
second part).

The most popular reed is the Vandoren V12.

There's a mix on ligatures. However, Rovners and D. Bonade reverse models
are among the favorites.

Now, you'll read a lot of complaints about all of these products. But,
they must all be very good to be so popular among so many proficient
musicians.

Before I joined this list, I happened to be playing an R13 with a B45 and
a Rovner ligature. I prefer Vandoren V12 reeds. I am happy with all of
this equipment. And, learning that so many others had made the same
choices, has kept me from the kind of search that has apparently made
other clarinetists crazy.
