Fred,

Your reply to Stephen's sticky pad situation is correct. There is,
however, a pad being used by Selmer (Bundy) that has a surface that is
painted. This always seems to get sticky. If you clean it with alcohol
the paint comes off! The only solution to this that I know of is to
replace the pad with one that isn't made in that peculiar fashion.
