Devin,

I have seen clarinetists perform with and without music when they play
concertos. It seems to be a bit more common to play with music when the
work is 20th century. However, I have seen the Copland played from
memory (Stolzman). Do whatever seems right to you, but when you use
music, try not to seem "glued" to the score. I have had some
scary experiences playing from memory, and I must confess that I am less
confident about doing it now.
Good luck,

Lisa Gartrell Yeo

PS I am doing the Copland in January and will probably use music.
