Mark makes an excellent point regarding tips/facings/rail thicknesses and
his posting is most articulate.

However, the original thread of this discussion was regarding grade 9
players. One can only hope that the kids are using middle of the road
facings and tip openings. If they are, the advice that I have read in the
ensuing discussion is, pardon the pun, sound. If they aren't ---- YIKES!!
