I was wondering what other clarinetists do when they compete or perform
the Copland Concerto. Do you play memorized? With music?

I had the opportunity to perform the work with orchestra last November.
However, since we used cuts (to save the orchestral string players some
grief), I used music. What is the appropriate prcedure regarding the use
of music in the 20th century works? I have never seen the Copland
performed live, so I don't know what other clarinetists do.

Also, what about a work like the Nielsen or Corigliano Concerto? With or
without music?

Thanks in advance for all responses!
