Dear Jordan--

I have a repair shop here in Columbus, Ohio, specializing in clarinet work.
As background, I made oboes for the Fox Bassoon and Oboe Co. and worked for
Buffet USA in New York during the 80's as their quality control supervisor.
I've been in the business about 23 years, and now run my own shop and sell
Buffet instruments. I am doing work for Ricardo Morales, Eddie Daniels, Dave
Weber, Don Montanaro, etc., etc. any of whom would give good references, I'm
sure. I would be happy to do some work for you, but am booked for months,
with a few appointments remaining in December and January, after which things
open up a bit. I have pasted in a blurb from my advertising flyer listing
what I do for a typical overhaul. Price is $400 plus shipping--hope it comes
out legibly after going out on-line.....
If I can be of help, please call 614-846-4888 or E-mail MorrisMini@-----.com

Clarinet Overhaul Description

These refinements are also standard on new
Buffet clarinets with set-up option:

* Complete disassembly and cleaning of mechanism

* Remove debris from tone holes left over from manufacturing

* Repair chipped or grain-perforated tone hole rims

* Tighten mechanism throughout: oversize rods and pivots installed
where needed, otherwise swedging and post counterboring used

* Correct post hole/rod alignment to alleviate bowed and binding rods

* Change F#/C# spring to post insertion

* Modify spring fulcrums for snappy action

* Replace key silencing pads at selected points with more resilient
material, Teflonr tip on side F/C lever

* Repadding of upper joint with beveled and/or domed cross-grain cork
pads, depending upon function and location

* Repadding of lower joint with custom woven felt "bladder" pads,
or hand-made white kid leather pads, = extra cost

* Refinement of touchpiece locations and angles for comfortable hand
position, adjustment of key heights for tuning and clarity etc.

* Plastic side lever pins replaced with metal pins for dependability, flat
spring "helper" on L.H. Eb key of Prestige or Festival models

* Small details and attentions, too numerous to mention, for that hard to
define "just right" feel

* Requests for thumb rest repositioning, spring tension preferences
and other individual adjustments readily accommodated
