John B. - As I understand it (or perhaps I don't), the Russians simply didn't
have the resources in the East to invade Japan. Manchuria, Korea, and the
Kuriles were relatively easy targets, so they took them. U.S. military
intelligence may have thought otherwise at the time, of course ....
Re Klezmer - is there ANYTHING on this genre which is available in the U.K.
