I have two RC horns. One is a basset clarinet (A) Prestigie which is
perhaps one of the finest horns I have ever played. I also have an RC A
clarinet that is a very beautiful instrument. I play on a Prestige R 13
A clarinet, though. I know so many players that play on the RC and like
it much more than the R 13, but they are in Europe for the most part. I
know that in England a number of years ago many players changed to Buffet
horns and at that time the horns of choice seemed to be the RC. Now,
though, the R 13 has taken the place of the RC, it seems. Of course,
here in the States is seems that the RC is met with great horror!! Both
are good horns and it is a matter of what one likes. In my opinion the
RC does respond a little easier but I always find myself looking for
something more than the horn seems to have. Buffet seems to have a
higher opinion of the RC - better work on the horns and always with
silver keys.
