Hello -

Most of my younger students are not strictly beginners - rather they have
been started in a band setting. They are more likely to be 13 or 14
with some bad habits already in place.

For what it is worth, I have found that changing them from the B-45/Rico 2
setup (typical here) to a Combs LC1/Vandoren V12 3 (maybe softer, but not
usually) helps immediately. For most that is a easy and free feeling
setup that is still capable of producing a characteristic sound - with
some air.
