I'm a post-college clarinetist, but I play a lot of bass. While I was at KU,
I played one of their Selmer extended range horns with the complete Bay setup
(the neck, mouthpiece, and lig.) I felt I was able to get a big resonant
tone on this particular setup, but I would like to hear from other
professional bass clarinetists on their prefrences. I did study about a
semester from Tom Aber in Kansas City. He plays on the Selmer, but other
than that I think the setup is standard. (GREAT PLAYER!!!)
