Just a guess, Lynn, but I'd be extremly surprised if Buffet used different
bore sizes for the R 13 and the Academy. It is more likely that the bore
reamers are inconsistent due to heat from friction: was your R 13 (or
Academy) made at the beginning of the day's run or the end? Maybe they
recycled the reamers after the R 13 run, who knows. If anyone is aware
that Buffet used diferent bore sizes on standard type clarinets (for use
in North American) made in the 1970's, please let me know!

I would think that it is far more likely the barrel receiver is too
small/the outside of the tenon on the top of the Academy is smaller than
the R 13, etc.
