I'm fairly new to clarinet (translation: rank beginner), although I've
been playing sax (mostly tenor & bari) for 20+ years and harmonica
(professionally) for 25 years.

I did, however, dig out an older Conn (not sure of the date, serial
333,000 if memory serves) and had my repairman overhaul it.

I had intended to use the stock mpc until I had developed my clarinet
technique, but my repairman has advised gainst it. He says the
mouthpiece could be refaced and repaired, but it would cost much more
than simply buying a new piece.

So, I'm looking for advice. He recommended a VanDoren B45, and told me
that he plays a 5JB.

I play middle of the road facings on sax: 7* (105) on tenor and 6
(100) on bari.

Given that jazz is my primary interest, although necessity will
require me to play in some legit settings as well, what would you
recommend I try?

What about ligs? I've ordered a Rovner Eddie Daniels model, but am
still open for suggestions.

Finally, reeds. I usually play Rico Royals on sax, with LaVoz a close
second. I like the way Fibracell reeds play (on sax), although they
have a faint buzz I find distracting.

Thanks in advance for your input
