Dear Fellow Clarinetists,

I am writing to you in the hope that you may be able to help me in my
search for 19th Century works for clarinet based on motives from
Vincenzo Bellini's operas. This is the focus of my doctoral treatise,
and most of these works are now out-of-print. I won't go into detail
of the methods I have already taken to locate these pieces, but will
mention that I have found some of these through European libraries and
the ICS Score Collection (mostly from the library of the late Jerry
Pierce). I have in my possession the following pieces: Baermann's
"Souvenirs de Bellini"; Klose's "Fantaisie sur la 'Norma'";
Berr/Fessy's "17th Fantaisie de 'I Puritani'"; Bassi's "Fantasia on 'I
Puritani'"; Lazarus' "Fantasia on Airs from 'I Puritani'"; Cavallini's
"Concert Fantasia on 'La Sonnambula'" and Variazioni sopra un tema del
'La Straniera'"; Klose's "Duo on 'La Sonnambula'"; Milani's "Concerto
sur 'La Sonnambula'"; and Thornton's "'Sonnambula' Theme and
Varations".
