Subj: Gender tendencies for instruments

When I was a string bass playing high school freshmen I decided to
take up the flute...because that's where the girls were! My parents
were big-band afficianados and decided that I should play the clarinet
instead.

Since then, over 40% of my amours have been clarinettists. I have to
conclude that clarinet playing has been very good for me!

Just for info, here's the gender breakdown in the band I manage,
Female/Male
Flute: 100%/0% Trumpet: 25%/75%
Oboe: 100%/0% French Horn: 20%/80%
Clarinet: 67%/33% Trombone: 0%/100%
B. Clar. 100%/0% Euphonium: 0%/100%
Bassoon: 100%/0% Tuba: 0%/100%
Sax: 40%/60% Percussion: 75%/0%

Cheers,

Victor Freyer
